When can I use these services?
We can already help you find language editing services, whether or not you have already published with us, and our commissioning editors, marketing and sales colleagues regularly visit institutions around the world to provide information on how to publish with us. For language editing services currently available, please click here and if you would like a Press representative to visit your institution, please complete the register interest form below. We are going to expand and simplify our offering in both language editing and providing support and training for academics please register your interest if you’d like to receive updates or make any suggestions.
Does this mean I’ll have to pay for services that used to be free?
No, the language editing service we are launching is primarily for those who have perhaps previously struggled to get past the first submission hurdle because of difficulties with communicating in English. You can still expect the high quality service that you are used to from Cambridge University Press during the publication of your accepted manuscript.
How much will this cost?
The cost of language editing will depend on the length and complexity of the work, please look out for more details coming soon.
Will you be able to edit my conference abstract/cover letter/grant proposal?
Our central language editing service will be comprehensive, and cater for a wide range of academic documents. Please look out for more details coming soon, or register your interest below to receive updates.
Who will carry out the language editing of my work?
Cambridge University Press is known worldwide for excellence in the English language, so any editing of your work will be carried out by experts in academic writing to the same rigorous standards that are associated with the Press as a publisher.
If I use these language editing services, is my manuscript more likely to be published by Cambridge University Press?
If you have previously had difficulty with article or proposal acceptance because of lack of English clarity, using a language editing service will help you improve the communication of your work, but the manuscript will still be assessed with the same rigour as any other submission. Using the language editing service does not in any way guarantee acceptance of your work to be published by Cambridge University Press.
Can you translate my manuscript for me?
We do not currently offer translation as a stand-alone service, but we are aware that this is an area of great interest to many of our potential authors. If you have a manuscript that you would like to be published by CUP that needs translating, it is best to discuss this on a case-by-case basis with the appropriate editor.
